Always wanted to make a quilt? Let us teach you how in this beginner quilting workshop with a lap sized Trip Around the World! This quilt is a traditional pattern that you can spice up with vibrant fabrics…wait until you see our Christmas version!
In this class you will learn the basics of cutting and piecing, basting, machine quilting and binding. All of the skills to get your started on your quilty journey. You should be comfortable using a sewing machine to take this class, but no quilting experience required.
The finished quilt will be 67” square
TUESDAY October 23: 6:00 to 6:00 pm
Use a sewing machine and thread to sculpt a beautiful cotton rope bowl or basket. You’ll get lost in the meditative process and be inspired by the endless possibilities of colour and design. This is a great way to practice and improve your machine handling skills, too!
SUNDAYS October 14, 21 and 28 : 12:00 to 4:00 pm
The second in our Capsule wardrobe, Alder is a loosely fitted sleeveless shirt dress with two options. View A falls into an A-Line at the waist and features a curved hem, bust darts and two breast pockets. View B features the same bodice as View A but with a gathered skirt at the sides and back of the garment resulting in an incredibly flattering and fun silhouette. The Alder Shirtdress is a perfect breezy option to keep cool while looking great all spring and summer long or throw on a cardigan or blazer and you’re all set for fall and winter!
Techniques involved include sewing a straight seam, bust darts, bias facing armholes, adding a shirt collar, gathering, and buttons & buttonholes.

We are so excited to be welcoming Karina Carter of Rag Rugs by Karina to the studio!
In her two day workshop, Karina will teach you how to weave a rug using recycled materials like old sheets, or maybe some of your quilting stash! Each student will be provided a custom built weaving loom which is yours to keep following class so that you can keep on weaving! Now tell me that won’t come in handy with Christmas around the corner!

Christmas is coming!
Get ready to deck the halls with your own, homemade stocking! Use traditional, holiday-themed fabrics or just choose your favorite print. In this class we will explore Quilt as You Go and how you can apply it to other quilt projects, and how to insert a lining as you create your one-of-a-kind stocking that will be filled with treats on Christmas morning! These stockings will be way too pretty for lumps of coal!

The Meadowland Quilt Pattern, from Then Came June, is a great beginner friendly, block based pattern. It is very versatile because you can use FQs or 1/2 yards and even scraps! Meadowland is the pattern you won't be able to stop making! It comes in six sizes and is easily customizable as it is block based.
In this class we will learn to make the meadowland block and get you ready to make the rest of your quilt top.

Learn how to sew a hot soup bowl cozy to protect your fingers and your furniture from hot bowls of hot soup, chili, oatmeal, etc with a fabric bowl cozy that is attractive and very functional. Add in a Hot Pad and you have sweet custom made gifts all year long!
THURSDAY October 18 : 5:00 to 9:00 pm
Is learning to sew on your bucket list? This class is for you! In this workshop you will make these sweet drawstring bags. They make a great gift, or the perfect eco-friendly, reusable wrapping.
While you make your bag you will learn all the basics - getting to know your sewing machine including winding the bobbin, threading the machine, stitch length, tension, speed, running stitch, zigzag stitch, reverse stitch, seam allowance. Also the importance of ironing and the art of turning corners.
Using Studio Time
Our 6 Janome sewing machines and studio tools are available for rental by the hour so you can work on your own projects at your own pace. Come by yourself or with friends and find your inspiration in our big, bright workshop while you make use of our large cutting table, irons and ironing boards.
Rentals are $7 per hour. Or Prepay for a reduced rate: 5 hours for $30, 10 hours for $50
You purchase the Sewing Machine rental Punch Cards in the Class listing area. When you come into the shop after buying online you will receive a card marked with the number of hours you have prepaid for. Card will be punched as hours used.
